Job Title: Registered Nurse - Triage Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Clinic Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 2+ years including experience in hemo/onc/infusion, triage, and phlebotomy. License: Current RN License Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Chemotherapy Certification. Oncology Certification preferred. Must-Have: - Experience with port access, IV starts, and lab draws. - Ability to triage telephone calls from patients, families, and referring offices. - Experience in performing patient vitals, medication reconciliation, and health histories. Description: The position involves working in a busy hemo/onc clinic with an infusion suite. Candidates will manage an average patient ratio of 1:6. Responsibilities include the administration of ordered injections, pump disconnects, and vaccines. Nurses will triage telephone calls from patients, families, and the community or referring offices. Follow-up calls to patients will be conducted as instructed by the provider. This role includes handling prescription refills and home care referrals. Collaboration with providers and nursing staff in the clinic is essential. Nurses will review and triage lab and x-ray results received in the office. Critical values will be communicated to medical practitioners as needed. High-risk patients may require follow-up calls to assess changes in status or treatment needs. Documentation of information provided to patients during triage is crucial in electronic health record systems. Nurses will communicate any additional documentation or notes from triage events to physicians. In-office procedures such as EKGs and PFTs will be performed as ordered by the provider. Assistance with bone marrow procedures, surgical procedures, and Nurse Only visits will be required. Nurse Only visits may include tasks such as blood pressure checks, immunizations, and education. This role emphasizes the importance of ensuring that all required patient information is available for provider review during visits.
