Supplemental Instruction Leader

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic support program that targets historically difficult courses. The SI Leader is a student or recent Ivy Tech graduate who has taken and excelled in the class. SI Leaders should be prepared to share with students how to effectively study for the course. SI Leaders attend the same class every day, taking notes and listening closely to the professor.Major Responsbilities:Participate in SI Leader TrainingAttend all class sessions and serve as a model studentConduct group study sessionsCollaborate with faculty Integrate Content and Learning SkillsCollect Data for Program EvaluationThe above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with the position may be assignedPay Rate: $15.00/hourSchedule: days and times vary based on course schedule and candidate availability. Up to 28 hours per weekMinimum Qualifications:Must have a high school diploma or GEDSome college coursework requiredMust be making, or have achieved, Satisfactory Academic Progress; Must have a grade of A or B in the targeted classMust have a desire and ability to perform work in the employment position assignedMust be able to maintain the confidentiality and private nature of information and coursework materialsPosition requires sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of the College's students and employeesFully supports the College’s mission and strategic plan initiativesSelected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcomeIvy Tech is committed to supporting the well-being, growth, and financial security of our part-time employees.
