AmeriCorps STEM Specialist - Utah County

Utah County is hiring for 11 AmeriCorps STEM Specialists for the upcoming school year 2026-2027. The 11 locations are located throughout Utah County. Locations Orem Bonneville Elementary Cascade Elementary Cherry Hill Elementary Parkside Elementary Westmore Elementary Provo Amelia Earhart Elementary Franklin Elementary Provo Clubhouse Timpanogos Elementary Walden School of Liberal Arts Pleasant Grove Mt. Mahogany Elementary Schedule The AmeriCorps STEM Specialist will work approximately 12-16 hours each week assisting with hands‑on, informal STEM education at Boys & Girls Clubs. The schedule is from Monday through Friday, 2-6 PM, from mid‑August 2026 to the end of May 2027. The selected individual will serve as an AmeriCorps member—a national service opportunity, not a regular job. Members agree to complete a minimum of 300 service hours for each term: August–December 2026 and January–May 2027. Compensation & Training Living allowance: $4,800 paid bi‑weekly during each term of service (not hourly). Upon successful completion, an Education Award of $1,565.08 will be awarded (post‑service benefit for qualifying students). Key Responsibilities Provide STEM Education Lead STEM lessons during allocated time each week Maintain lesson‑plan records and track number of students served Complete weekly timesheets and a monthly report Evaluate student progress using surveys & rubrics Create an environment that facilitates Youth Development Outcomes Build positive relationships with youth, families, school staff, and teammates Promote and stimulate program participation Provide guidance and role modeling to members Ensure members receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills across program areas Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety, and development of members Program Development and Implementation Effectively implement and administer programs, services, and activities for all members and visitors Monitor and evaluate program services and activities Oversee member safety, program quality, and organization appearance at all times Supervision Supervise and ensure safety during indoor and outdoor activities Participate in weekly organization staff meetings to maintain a productive work environment Additional Responsibilities May participate in special programs and/or events Participate in weekly staff meetings and all grant‑required training Skills & Knowledge Required 18+ years of age United States citizen or legal permanent resident High school diploma or GED Meet the requirements set by the Corporation for National and Community Service Experience working with children Knowledge of youth development Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems Ability to work with schools and the general public Plan and implement quality programs for youth Organize and supervise members in a safe environment CPR and First Aid certifications may be required Valid state driver’s license Preference for individuals with educational or work experience related to science, technology, engineering, math, teaching, and/or education DISCLAIMER: The information presented indicates the general nature and level of work expected of employees in this classification.
