Sr. Electrical Engineer

Molecular Devices seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to design and sustain electrical subsystems for life science instrumentation. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with cross-functional collaboration, spanning circuit design through production support in San Jose.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical design of instrument subsystems including analog/digital circuitry, FPGA logic, power distribution, and communications
• Translate user needs and system requirements into electrical architecture, schematics, and design documentation
• Build and test prototypes; perform board bring-up, integration, troubleshooting, and design verification
• Partner with cross-functional teams on risk assessments, design reviews, and resolution of manufacturing and field issues

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
• 5+ years progressive experience developing electrical components for complex electromechanical products
• Proficiency in mixed-signal circuit design, PCB development, power electronics, and motor/actuator control
• Hands-on experience with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB design
• FPGA/CPLD design using VHDL or Verilog with logic simulation and hardware debugging skills
• Experience with SOLIDWORKS for mechanical packaging and electrical-mechanical integration

Compensation: $140,000–$170,000 base
