Maintenance Supervisor This role leads maintenance operations by establishing, implementing, and sustaining long-range plans to improve maintenance activities while providing hands‑on technical support to manufacturing departments. The Maintenance Supervisor 2 ensures effective use of personnel, materials, and equipment to support Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost (SPQRC) initiatives across the plant. Responsibilities Implement and actively support corporate safety policies, safety initiatives, and plant housekeeping standards to maintain a safe and orderly work environment. Diagnose equipment malfunctions, determine root causes, and initiate both immediate corrective actions and long‑term solutions to prevent recurrence. Support the plant in achieving Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost goals through effective maintenance planning and execution. Supervise construction and maintenance projects from planning through completion, ensuring work meets scope, schedule, and quality expectations. Assist in the implementation of divisional and corporate policies within the maintenance function. Maintain production and maintenance schedules while ensuring quality requirements are consistently met. Implement and reinforce safety and good housekeeping standards across all maintenance activities. Train, develop, and evaluate maintenance employees to build a high‑performing team and promote continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with the terms of local and national labor agreements while supporting divisional and corporate policies. Initiate and maintain effective communication with internal and external teams, including production and other support functions, to resolve maintenance‑related issues. Plan, coordinate, and implement preventive and planned maintenance activities to minimize unplanned downtime. Complete work assignments within established budget, manpower, and timing constraints. Monitor equipment and system performance, identify issues via monitoring tools, collaborate with the team to diagnose problems, oversee the implementation of solutions, and document resolutions for future reference. Work collaboratively with both maintenance and production teams to align maintenance activities with production needs and priorities. Essential Skills Experience supervising maintenance or production teams, including oversight of 20 or more tradespeople. Hands‑on maintenance supervision experience in a manufacturing or general assembly environment (up to 1 year of experience acceptable). Demonstrated supervision skills with the ability to direct, coordinate, and evaluate team performance (up to 1 year of experience acceptable). Ability to work effectively with others and build strong cross‑functional relationships (up to 1 year of experience acceptable). High‑level analytical ability to identify problems, determine root causes, and develop effective solutions (up to 1 year of experience acceptable). Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, coach, and motivate team members (up to 1 year of experience acceptable). Clear and professional oral and written communication skills for interaction between maintenance, production, and other teams (up to 1 year of experience acceptable). Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints (up to 1 year of experience acceptable). Knowledge of assembly processes and related manufacturing operations (up to 1 year of experience acceptable). Experience using basic machine shop equipment and tools (up to 1 year of experience acceptable). Knowledge of complex mechanical and electrical concepts relevant to industrial equipment (up to 1 year of experience acceptable). Knowledge of safety practices and procedures within an industrial or manufacturing setting (up to 1 year of experience acceptable). Proficient problem‑solving skills, including the ability to recognize issues on monitoring systems, lead the team in diagnosing problems, oversee corrective actions, and record solutions. Experience with preventive maintenance (PM) databases to track daily PM activities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a high‑volume manufacturing or general assembly environment. Experience in both maintenance supervision and production supervision. Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or similar PM tracking tools. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities while maintaining safety and quality standards. Comfort working in a structured environment with local and national labor agreements. Experience collaborating closely with production teams to balance maintenance needs with production schedules. Strong documentation skills for recording maintenance activities, solutions, and equipment history. The role operates on a 3rd shift schedule from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and typically requires working two Saturdays per month, following a pattern of approximately 19 days on and 2 days off. You will work around industrial equipment, assembly processes, and basic machine shop tools while using engineering drawings, blueprints, and preventive maintenance databases to plan and track work. The setting requires consistent use of appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment suitable for a production and maintenance facility.
