This position is a vital member of the Mental Health Clinic's Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) Team at the Colmery O'Neal VA Medical Center in Topeka, Kansas. The incumbent provides a full range of mental health services, including psychological assessments and evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy, among others. Care is primarily delivered through time-limited treatment, with ongoing attention to treatment planning, goal setting, and measurement-based outcomes. The Psychologist will provide individual and group sessions, both in person and via telehealth/VA Video Connect. The incumbent may also participate in the psychology internship training program.

Duties to include but not limited to:

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Provides a full range of psychological assessment services and diagnoses mental disorders, particularly for complex or unusually difficult patients.
• Provides education to patients, family members, and significant others.
• Provides comprehensive, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, including individual, family, and group psychotherapy.
• Provides consultation to professional staff within VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System and to community providers, concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans for patients.
• Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for patients who require such treatment.

Administrative Responsibilities:

• Assists the Chief of Psychology and BH SLM in the design, development, and implementation of clinical programs for a team of treatment providers.
• Assists the Chief of Psychology and BHSLM in the execution of ongoing program evaluation and data-driven quality improvement projects to monitor the effectiveness of the clinical program.
• Facilitates liaisons with other health care programs in order to effectively coordinate services.
• Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients.
• Attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings held by the Chief of Psychology, BHSLM (or designee) and facility Director.
• Complies with and participates in peer review, Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE), Focused Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE), and/or recommendations from the Professional Standards Board (PSB).

Academic/Teaching/Training:

• Provide discipline-specific clinical consultation and clinical supervision for psychology students, interns, residents.
• Supports discipline-specific training program and training committee.
• Supports the training of medical students, medical and psychiatric residents, nursing students and fellows, as appropriate.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and consultation on staff education and development.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience.

Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
