Summary:
Performs procedures involving blood collection, central receiving/specimen handling, and limited technical functions to assist the technologist in performing laboratory analysis.

Formal Education Required:
a. High School graduate or GED equivalent


E xperience and Training Required:
a. One (1) year previous phlebotomy experience or successful completion of a formal phlebotomy training program
b. Certificate in Phlebotomy or as a Medical Assistant is preferred
c. Ability to travel from location to location


Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
b. Knowledge of medical terminology
c. Ability to multitask

Level of Physical Demands:
a. Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or ten to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects.
