RN-Call Center

JOB SUMMARY

Provides nursing care via phone triage and clinic calls, using the nursing process and ensuring safe clinical decisions, patient education, and scheduling.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Consistently answer the phone promptly within defined standards using AIDET greetings. Obtain, verify, and input all information accurately into the facility’s electronic health record (EHR) or other appropriate systems. Complete all appropriate requests and future test orders by proposal or verbal order as per clinic protocol. May refill medication and medical supplies as approved by the facility. Constantly monitor and check the EHR inbox for patient or provider requests—respond within the scope of care. Process all patient inquiries, messages and requests promptly, efficiently, and professionally while maintaining confidentiality. Check voicemail and/or email as assigned for messages and return calls. Adhere to all CGMHSA safety, security, and compliance standards. Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI); gather and report CQI data to the appropriate personnel. Maintain current certifications/licensure and complete all mandatory facility, department, and role‑specific education requirements. Support quality and fiscal goals, assist in inventory management, CQI projects, and identify obstacles to improvement. Serve as a peer mentor and provide student learning experiences as assigned. Participate in special projects that support the operation of the organization and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate from an accredited Registered Nursing (RN) program. Two years of clinical nursing experience (work experience may NOT substitute for education requirements). Currently licensed or licensed by endorsement as an RN by the Alabama Board of Nursing. Possess basic knowledge of computers, PC applications, software, and database management. Current CPR/BLS certification via the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Strongly preferred: (1) Two years of Call Center and/or Emergency Department nursing experience; (2) 6,000 keystrokes per hour.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role may require lifting up to 50 lbs. The work location is onsite.
