We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for mechanical engineering and materials science professionals experienced in simulated research review, technical output evaluation, scientific methodology assessment, engineering reasoning, materials analysis, and structured feedback.

This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on simulated research environment review, engineering and materials science evaluation, agent trajectory analysis, technical accuracy assessment, methodology review, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will review complex research-style outputs and evaluate them across accuracy, methodology, scientific rigor, and domain-specific reasoning quality.

Key Responsibilities

Professionals in this role may contribute to:

Simulated Research Review

• Review simulated research environments involving mechanical engineering and materials science topics
• Evaluate multi-step agent trajectories, intermediate reasoning, and final outputs
• Assess whether outputs are technically accurate, methodologically sound, and scientifically rigorous
• Identify weak assumptions, incomplete analysis, unsupported conclusions, or flawed engineering reasoning

Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science Evaluation

• Apply domain expertise to evaluate research-style outputs across mechanics, materials behavior, design analysis, simulation, or experimental reasoning
• Review task materials involving mechanical systems, materials characterization, computational methods, testing logic, or engineering interpretation
• Assess whether proposed approaches reflect realistic scientific and engineering practice
• Provide subject-matter judgment on accuracy, feasibility, and technical completeness

Structured Feedback & Quality Review

• Provide clear written feedback explaining strengths, weaknesses, and improvement areas
• Classify issues across accuracy, methodology, reasoning quality, and scientific rigor
• Support consistent review standards across simulated research tasks
• Maintain strong attention to detail and clear documentation across submitted evaluations

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

• Domain expertise in mechanical engineering, materials science, materials engineering, computational mechanics, applied mechanics, manufacturing, or a closely related field
• Research, academic, or industry experience reviewing technical work, experiments, simulations, or engineering analyses
• Ability to evaluate complex technical outputs for accuracy, methodology, and scientific rigor
• Strong understanding of engineering reasoning, materials behavior, modeling assumptions, or experimental design
• Excellent written communication skills and ability to explain technical feedback clearly
• High attention to detail and ability to apply structured evaluation criteria consistently
• Ability to work independently in a remote, project-based environment

Educational Background

• BS, MS, PhD, or equivalent professional experience in mechanical engineering, materials science, materials engineering, applied mechanics, manufacturing engineering, aerospace engineering, civil engineering, or a related STEM field may be relevant
• Advanced research experience, graduate-level training, or applied engineering experience may be especially valuable depending on project scope
• Experience with scientific review, engineering analysis, research documentation, or technical quality assessment is highly relevant

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with benchmark design, evaluation design, technical review workflows, or rubric-based assessment
• Experience with computational mechanics, finite element analysis, materials modeling, mechanical design, materials testing, or simulation review
• Experience reviewing AI-generated technical outputs, agent trajectories, or multi-step reasoning chains
• Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, finite element tools, materials analysis software, or computational research environments
