Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Implements documented treatment/intervention plans developed by the speech-language pathologist. Accurately collects and records subjective and objective data. Records student's status with regard to established objectives as stated in the treatment plan and reports this information to the supervising speech-language pathologist.
• Prepares work area and materials for use. Maintains and cleans equipment, adhering to infection control protocol.
• Performs various clerical tasks, including filing, copying, typing letters, and preparing bulletin boards.
• Accompanies the students from classroom to the service area or prepares classroom for service delivery.
• Assists the speech-language pathologist in the informal assessment of students.
• Participates in educational facility activities and committees, classroom activities and conferences as required by the speech-language pathologist.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Basic math, writing, and communication skills. Ability to appropriately consider age, gender, cultural/linguistic background and related factors when providing services. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information pertaining to students and their families. Operating knowledge of assistive communication devices. Operating knowledge of computer required for hire. Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs preferred.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

Bachelor's degree plus completion of Speech-Language Pathology Assistant training program usually taken during the last semester of undergraduate education.

EXPERIENCE:

0-1 year experience in related field.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:

Must be eligible for Speech Language Pathology Assistant certification.

Supervision/Technical Responsibility

Assists with supervision of students. Assist classroom teacher with carrying out modifications for individual students.
