Position Summary: As the Human Resource Generalist, you will be responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and collaborating with HR management in supporting Core-Mark. You will drive employee engagement and help build a people-first culture, while also supporting recruiting efforts, safety, payroll, benefits, and training functions. A successful candidate will maintain HR compliance, contribute to innovative HR practices, and play a strategic role in ensuring an environment that enables all. This role is based out of our Montgomery, IL distribution center, but does require travel every 4-6 weeks to Eau Claire, WI.

• Relocation: N/A - Must be local to the area
• Work Location: This is an onsite role at our Chicago OpCo, located at 2051 Baseline Road, Montgomery, IL 60538
• Travel/Training: This role is based out of our Montgomery, IL distribution center, but does require travel every 4-6 weeks to Eau Claire, WI.
• Work Schedule: This role is 100% onsite in in Montgomery IL -- 5 days per week, Monday-Friday normal business hours
• Subject to change based on the needs of the business
• Compensation: $60k-$65k base salary, depending on experience

Position Responsibilities:

• Support onboarding needs and facilitate weekly new hire orientation.
• Processing biweekly payroll
• Performing HRIS data maintenance, including new hire processing and status changes.
• Administering various HR plans and procedures for all Core-Mark personnel, including pay, benefits, and leave-related processes.
• Addressing employee inquiries regarding company policies, procedures, and HR programs.
• Conducting best practice surveys and assisting in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
• Providing employee relations support, including conducting investigations.
• Providing legal support for all active litigation.
• Conducting regular audits on employee timekeeping records to ensure compliance.
• Assisting with responses to unemployment claims.
• Coordinating employee training, employee awards, and other Core-Mark programs.
• Providing additional support to HR processes across Core-Mark.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must have at least 1 year of HR experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• General knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must have reliable transportation and the ability to work onsite Monday-Friday, normal business hours.

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
• Bilingual (English / Spanish speaking).
• Union experience is highly preferred and will take precedent as a skillset.
• Experience in a warehouse, distribution, foodservice or relatable industry.
• Experience with HRIS and talent management systems.
• HR Certification a plus (SHRM, PHR).
