Social Worker in Lapeer, MI

A school social worker with expertise in elementary education is needed on a contract basis to provide valuable services covering a maternity leave from early November through the end of December 2026, working a full 37.5-hour week. Step into a welcoming elementary school community and utilize your skills to foster a positive, supportive environment for students. Youll serve two elementary schools, collaborating with staff and families to help children thrive academically and emotionally as they navigate their school day. Qualifications and Experience: Masters degree in social work from an accredited program Valid state licensure or certification as a school social worker Experience supporting elementary-aged children in a school setting Proficiency in counseling, crisis intervention, and case management Familiarity with IEPs, 504 plans, and multi-disciplinary teams Outstanding communication and collaboration abilities Empathetic demeanor with an organized, proactive approach Key Responsibilities: Provide individual and small-group counseling for students Address a range of social, emotional, and behavioral concerns Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to design interventions Conduct assessments to determine student needs Contribute to IEP/504 plan development and meetings Offer crisis support and resource connections as needed This is a wonderful opportunity to make a positive mark on students lives while furthering your professional experience within a supportive school system.
