Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Medical Surgical Oncology position requiring 2 years of oncology experience and an active MI license.

Details

• Pediatric Medical Surgical Oncology unit at a teaching hospital
• Patient population includes pediatric oncology, leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma cases
• Duties include cell and gene therapy, blood product administration, chemotherapy and conditioning treatment, and supportive care
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Day shift, 4x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• On-call responsibilities required

Requirements

• Active Michigan (MI) RN license required; compact licenses not accepted
• BLS certification required; Chemo (ONS/ONCC) and OCN certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Bone marrow transplant experience preferred; cell administration experience not required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, port access and management, and central line care required
• Skills in chemotherapy administration, biotherapy, and symptom management for oncologic emergencies preferred
• Two manager or supervisor references required; charge nurse references not accepted

Additional Information

• Administer chemotherapy, cell and gene therapies, and blood products to pediatric oncology patients
• Provide supportive care and patient/family education and psychosocial support
• Perform triage and care coordination for oncology patients
• Maintain neutropenic precautions and proper isolation/PPE protocols
• Recognize and manage oncologic emergencies such as anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, and sepsis
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
• Former permanent employees may return as travelers after one year, provided they left in good standing
• Candidates employed by the facility within the past 12 months are not eligible
• All requested RTO must be submitted upfront with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
• Traveler pairs are not accepted
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• All required certifications must be obtained prior to start date
• Orientation modules are completed onsite; no pre-hire modules required
