Tech - Sterile Processing Tech

Job Summary:
Performs sterilization and processing of surgical and hospital instruments to ensure patient safety and departmental efficiency. Handles instrument assembly, decontamination, and sterilization procedures in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Works collaboratively with surgical teams and other clinical departments to support perioperative services.

Responsibilities:

• Decontaminates, assembles, and sterilizes surgical instruments and trays following established protocols.
• Operates sterilization equipment, including autoclaves, biological indicators, and diagnostic testing cycles.
• Prepares instruments for immediate use or storage while maintaining strict infection control standards.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment by daily cleaning and weekly sterilizer chamber maintenance.
• Assists with room turnover, terminal cleaning, and supply/instrument preparation for upcoming cases.
• Records sterilization cycle data, tracks loaner instruments, and evaluates instrument safety and functionality.

Qualifications:

• Hold a High School diploma or GED.
• Possess a Sterile Processing Technician certification.
• Have at least two years recent experience in sterile processing or a related healthcare field.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Strong understanding of sterilization procedures, instrument handling, and infection control protocols.
