This role focuses on safely operating propane and electric sit-down forklifts to move steel, aluminum, and truck body components throughout a modern shop environment. You will support production by loading and unloading materials, delivering raw materials to the lines, and organizing finished goods and scrap in designated areas while maintaining a clean and efficient workspace.

Responsibilities

• Operate propane and electric sit-down forklifts to move steel, aluminum, and truck body components throughout the facility.
• Load and unload materials from trucks, storage racks, and staging areas in a safe and efficient manner.
• Deliver raw materials to production lines and remove finished or scrap materials as required to keep workflows running smoothly.
• Verify materials against work orders, pick lists, or job travelers to ensure accuracy and proper documentation.
• Safely stack, store, and organize truck bodies and other materials in designated areas to optimize space and maintain order.
• Inspect incoming and outgoing materials and promptly report any damage, shortages, or discrepancies.
• Perform daily forklift inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure equipment remains in safe operating condition.
• Use pallet jacks and other material handling equipment as needed to move and stage materials.
• Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including preparing materials for shipment and organizing incoming deliveries.
• Help maintain cleanliness and organization around the facility, including general shop clean-up tasks.
• Collaborate with and support other technicians as needed to meet production and operational goals.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience operating sit-down forklifts in a shop, warehouse, or manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to safely operate propane and electric forklifts for material movement.
• Strong material handling skills, including loading, unloading, stacking, and organizing various materials.
• Experience using pallet jacks and related material handling equipment.
• Experience in shipping and receiving operations, including handling truck loads and staging materials.
• Ability to accurately verify materials against work orders, pick lists, or job travelers.
• Attention to detail when inspecting materials for damage, shortages, or discrepancies.
• Capability to perform daily forklift inspections and basic equipment maintenance checks.
• Willingness to perform cleaning and general housekeeping tasks around the facility.
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to assist and collaborate with other technicians.

Work Environment

The role is based in a shop environment within a newer facility that operates with bay doors open most of the time. As a result, temperatures can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter, and employees should be comfortable working in these conditions and dress appropriately for seasonal changes. The work involves regular use of propane and electric sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment, with a focus on safe movement of steel, aluminum, and truck body components. The position follows first-shift hours from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and includes hands-on tasks such as loading, unloading, organizing materials, and maintaining general shop cleanliness.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lebanon, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
