Position Overview Performs a wide range of skilled and unskilled construction tasks on assigned renovation and new construction projects that support the healthcare mission of WVU Hospitals and its facilities. Minimum Qualifications 1 year of experience in the construction field performing work in a commercial/residential setting. Preferred Qualifications Completion of educational curriculum from a trade or vocational school. License or certification in at least one of the following construction disciplines: Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, or HVAC. Core Duties and Responsibilities Must have basic carpentry, electrical and plumbing skills: framing with metal studs, measuring/cutting/hanging drywall, finishing drywall, framing/hanging doors, installing electrical conduit and pulling wiring, installing electrical devices, installing HVAC ductwork and devices, roughing in new plumbing fixtures, installing flooring. Capable of reading and interpreting construction drawings and detailed installation specifications. Knowledgeable of safe construction practices, Life Safety codes, and Infection control practices in hospital environment. Capable of interacting with all levels of employees. Physical Requirements Ability to climb and work off of ladders, scaffolding, or electric lifts. Must be able to read blueprint drawings and specifications. Must be able to lift at least 75 pounds. Working Environment 90% of work is inside the Facility, 10% is outside in all weather conditions. Skills & Abilities Demonstrates willingness to train/mentor other tradespeople in specific construction practices and techniques. Compensation & Hours Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Shift: Exempt/Non-Exempt (Non-Exempt) Compensation Range: $17.61 - $26.42 per hour Position eligible for shift differentials and overtime pay over 40 hours per week.
