Safety Manager

Location: Hudson County, NJ; Westchester, NY; Stamford, CT; Suffolk County, Long Island

Salary: $120,000 – $150,000 + Medical Benefits

REQUIRED: All candidates must have the NYC DOB Site Safety Manager Certificate, including the certificate number and expiration date.

Company Overview

Our client is a well-established general contractor specializing in ground-up mixed-use multifamily residential construction throughout New Jersey and the five boroughs of New York City. With their main office located in Harrison, NJ, they are seeking a hands-on Safety Manager to support and enforce safety standards across active job sites.

Position Overview

The Safety Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation and enforcement of the company’s safety program across multiple construction sites. This role is highly field-oriented and will work closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, and subcontractors to ensure compliance and promote a strong culture of safety.

This position reports to senior leadership and requires regular communication with both field and office teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular job site safety inspections and enforce compliance with company and OSHA standards
• Identify hazards and implement corrective actions in real time
• Partner with Superintendents and Project Managers to ensure site-specific safety plans are followed
• Review subcontractor safety practices and address any deficiencies on-site
• Assist in incident investigations , including documentation and root cause analysis
• Maintain accurate OSHA logs and safety documentation
• Lead toolbox talks, site orientations, and ongoing safety training
• Monitor PPE compliance and safe work practices across all trades
• Support pre-construction safety planning as needed
• Communicate safety expectations clearly to field personnel and subcontractors
• Coordinate with third-party safety consultants when applicable

Position Requirements & Qualifications

• 5–10 years of construction safety experience
• Experience working on ground-up commercial or multifamily projects preferred
• OSHA 30 required; OSHA 510 a plus
• CHST, ASP, or CSP certifications are a plus (not required)
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards
• Ability to work directly in the field and interact with trades
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Organized and able to manage multiple active job sites
• Proficiency in safety reporting tools and basic technology platforms
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

• Work in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain
• Frequently visit active construction sites
• Climb stairs and ladders and navigate uneven terrain
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed
• Stand and walk for extended periods
