Protective Security Officer (PSO)

Our team includes armed and unarmed security personnel, as well as professionals providing investigative services.The company is a woman-owned business that is dedicated to the highest professional standards with the passion to raise those standards through attention to detail, experience, knowledge, proper training, and education.The Protective (PSO) is responsible for ensuring the safety of DOJ facilities and on-site personnel against unauthorized, illegal and potentially life-threatening activities. At a minimum PSOs are required to perform the following functions:-Entrance Control - The PSO must enforce the district's entry and identification system. This includes operating security screening equipment to detect weapons, contraband and prohibited items, checking hand-carried items.-Roving Patrol - The PSO must patrol court facilities and grounds of the facility in accordance with applicable post orders.-Stationary Patrol Assignments - The CSO must stand guard at stationary posts. This effort includes monitoring closed circuit television, duress alarm systems and other security equipment, courtrooms, judge chambers and jury rooms..-Garage Parking and Pedestrian Control - Where applicable, the PSO directs traffic and control lights on court facility properties according to post orders.-Law and Order - The PSO is responsible for enforcing federal law while in the performance of assigned duties.-Reports and Records - The PSO prepares daily reports regarding unusual incidents or unlawful acts that occurred within the court facility area.The following are the minimum Qualification Standards for those seeking a position as a PSO for the Department of Justice (DOJ) All qualifications must be met in order to qualify for employment. Your ability to meet Medical Standards will be validated by a physician.As part of the employment process, DOJ conducts an extremely thorough Background Investigation; if you provide any information during the job application process that is subsequently determined to be incomplete or untrue, your application will be immediately rejected and your application process terminated.PSOs shall have at least eighteen (18) months of acceptable law enforcement experience. Shall have, as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent.PSOs must be capable of frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping, up to 12 hours per day, either indoors or outdoors,during daytime or nighttime, extreme heat, cold, and/or severe weather. PSOs must have the ability to remain on post up to four consecutive hours without sitting, eating, or relieving bladder/bowels. PSOs shall be able to protect themselves and others and withstand physical exertion in apprehension of suspects and violators. Shall be capable of pursuing and apprehending suspects and violators on foot by: running, jumping, climbing, and/or crawling, followed by physical contact to overpower the violator as necessary. PSOs must have no loss of sense of smell, aphonia, or other abnormalities of nose, throat, or ears; no evidence of chronic bronchitis, emphysema (moderate or severe), infectious pulmonary tuberculosis or other respiratory abnormalities that prevent successful task performance. PSOs shall pass a physical examination given by a licensed physician or health care professional accepted by the Department prior to assignment and annually thereafter.PSOs shall pass a Weapons Proficiency Test/Firearms Qualification initially and thereafter every six (6) months with the duty weapon.PSOs shall be able to read, write, and speak the English language and perform assigned duties. Have a command of both the written and spoken English language to properly and clearly communicate with employees, co-workers, and the general public.
