About New Castle Correctional Facility: New Castle Correctional Facility is a multi-level security facility in New Castle, Indiana, with a capacity of 3,200 incarcerated adult males. It is the first DOC-owned, privately managed correctional facility in Indiana and has been operated by The GEO Group since 2005. The facility houses incarcerated individuals across security levels 1-4, including those with special needs and maximum-security classifications. Incarcerated individuals have access to medical care, educational services, therapeutic programming, and vocational training. Staff support a rehabilitative approach that promotes accountability and growth. Partnerships help ensure individuals receive services tailored to their needs.

Role Overview: As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operation of a diverse group of skilled trade Foremen and Technicians. The primary function of the Maintenance Supervisor is to ensure work is completed with a high degree of quality in a safe and secure manner while adhering to the priorities set forth by the Physical Plant Director.

A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows:

• Plan the work schedules based on priorities and deadlines for providing facility and maintenance services.
• Identify resource needs, review needs with appropriate management staff, and allocate resources accordingly.
• Develop and recommend work rules and quality control processes impacting operations.
• Develop and organize preventative maintenance and safety inspection programs for all facilities and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety-related rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Investigate accidents.
• Prepare and maintain work reports such as work logs, timesheets, accident reports, etc.
• Install, inspect, repair, and maintain the electrical, plumbing, paint, carpet, appliances, mechanical, and other related systems in all facility locations.
• Inspect, operate, and maintain the heating, cooling, and ventilation systems (including boiler system) in all facility locations.
• Provide equipment, procedural, and systems training to new and existing employees to perform the requisite job skills.
• Responsible for administering the budget line items for maintenance and repair.
• Maintain sufficient inventories of tools, parts, and supplies to properly service the facility and grounds.
• Order, prepare specifications, and purchase supplies, equipment, and contract work according to required purchasing and bidding procedures.
• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors.
• Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
• Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees.
• Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.

Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

What You'll Need for Success: Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

• Be willing to travel with reasonable accommodation.
• Possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Advanced knowledge of variety of trades related to installation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, and other related systems in all facility locations.
• Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties.
• Advanced knowledge of the tools, methods, practices, materials, and equipment used in the building and mechanical trades.
• Working knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules governing repair, maintenance, and construction of facilities.
• Working knowledge of and ability to plan, understand, and interpret detailed plans, specifications, and blueprints.
• Ability to make long-range plans, schedule preventative maintenance and seasonal maintenance, as well as prioritize routine and emergency repairs.
• Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
• Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.
• A degree is not required. However, a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) and at least 2 years of experience in maintenance, construction, or related field with a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members. This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
