Job Summary
IMCU Registered Nurse (RN) Wausau, WI. This contract position within the Intermediate Care Unit involves providing specialized nursing care in a 36-bed Med Surg Intermediate Care unit. The role requires managing a variety of complex patient conditions, including trauma and stroke, with a focus on stable, weaning ventilators and trachs, sepsis, and other critical care scenarios.

Job Details

• Position Description: IMCU RN position in a 36-bed Med Surg Intermediate Care unit with high acuity needs including trauma, stroke, sepsis, and neurological injuries.
• Required Qualifications: WI Registered Nurse (RN) license, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications. Minimum of 2+ years experience in stepdown/intermediate care units with ventilator and trach experience; ICU experience preferred. Trauma Level II experience is preferred. Charting experience with EPIC is a plus.
• Schedule: 12-hour days, 36 hours per week, starting on 11/02/2026 and ending on 01/31/2027.
• Additional Information: The unit has a heavy telemetry focus, with patient ratios of 4:1. The role involves floating to higher acuity units as needed, including inpatient units. The position requires resilience, independence, and the ability to manage a fast-paced environment. During flu season, unvaccinated travelers must wear masks at all times, per policy.
