We're committed to bringing passion and energy to our College.The Assistant Vice President of Finance/Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer and manages various government and official college business dealings. This role includes direct supervision of the Accounting, Payroll, and Student Accounts departments. The Controller administers a comprehensive accounting system for all college cost centers, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements. Responsibilities include safeguarding the college's financial assets, maintaining accurate financial reporting, and developing effective internal controls. The Assistant Vice President of Finance/Controller serves as the primary liaison with financial institutions and auditors, while also tracking revenue from ancillary services.Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for day-to-day oversight of all control functions including general accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, debt management, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and student accounts.Manage and supervise administrative staff within the accounting services department; Responsible for overseeing the coordination and facilitation of training provided by and for the department. Oversee and implement initiatives to enhance employee skills, morale, performance and retention.Work with the CFO to develop policies and procedures for the Finance and Administration department and ensure compliance. Responsible for the oversight of internal controls within the college; ensure that clear finance policies and procedures are maintained, communicated and monitored. Review processes and procedures to comply with all regulatory requirements and changes.Review and analyze the General Ledger. Prepare and approve journal entries as needed.Establish, coordinate, change, and verify the financial chart of accounts as it relates to the activities of the college.Oversee all Title IV reconciliations and drawdowns, Support Federal reporting (IPEDS, FISAP, EZ-audit, etc.), and grant reporting.Oversee the timely month-end and annual closing process and financial statement preparation.Review, analyze, and direct the processing of financial data and payroll.Prepare annual financial statements and financial reporting including general ledger maintenance, monthly reconciliations, and preparation and review of journal entries.Provide comprehensive detailed analyses of operating and financial results, including budget versus actual results and annual benchmarking of financial statements.Responsible for the planning and preparation of the annual financial statement audit.Coordinate the annual controls and financial audits; work with the CFO to oversee the annual audit report.Assist the CFO with supporting the Board of Trustees and various Board Committees, including but not limited to Finance and Audit.Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO.Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesKnowledge of current accounting and audit theories and practices.Knowledge of Pennsylvania college, Pennsylvania state and federal rules, regulations, procedures and accounting practices.Knowledge of GASB financial reporting requirements and the State of Pennsylvania.Strong verbal and written communication skills consistent with interpreting policies and procedures, providing clear and concise information, and compiling information into complete and accurate summaries and reports.Experience with financial software implementation.Interpersonal skills consistent with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees.Ability to make decisions using sound judgment.Ability to adapt to constant changes in priorities and tasks.Minimum QualificationsA minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited institution required. Master's Degree in Accounting and/or CPA preferred.Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience including budget and forecasting.2 years of working with GASB and higher education/governmental or non-profit accounting standards.Experience preparing GAAP financial statements and working with external auditors is required.Three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory experience.Highly skilled with Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in excel; Workday, Ellucian, and Jenzabar experience highly desired.Salary Range $135,000 - $150,000 (commensurate with experience)Bucks County Community College offers an exceptional benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, prescription plans, 403B pension plan, life insurance, short & long-term disability, generous paid time off, tuition waivers, tuition assistance, wellness center, cafeteria, and free parking on a beautiful Bucks County campus.Applications must consist of a letter of application addressing this specific position and the candidate's interest and qualifications for coming to Bucks County Community College, resume/CV, and a list of five professional references.
