Respiratory Therapist

This position involves providing respiratory therapy to adult, NICU, and pediatric patients. The unit covers a diverse range of patients from NICU to geriatrics. The therapist will manage ICU, stepdown, MedSurg, small pediatric units, and a level III NICU. There will be a maximum of 30 treatments per shift, which may vary based on seasonal demands. The workload may differ depending on patient volume and unit needs. Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, PALS, and either CRT or RRT. Experience in NICU is necessary for this role. Job duties include drawing and analyzing ABGs, administering breathing treatments, and managing BiPAP, CPAP, and ventilators. Therapists may assist with intubation and can place an LMA. There will always be a lead therapist or charge therapist on each shift. Travelers may serve as charge therapists depending on their experience and willingness. Therapists will not be the only RT in-house during any shift. Equipment used includes various ventilators and other respiratory therapy devices. Therapists are expected to participate in 1 departmental meeting each month. There are weekend and holiday work requirements. Floating may occur to ICU, floors, NICU, and ER as needed. Dress code consists of hunter green scrubs, which are not provided.
