Job: Research Assistant (Physics and Astronomy)This part term position is to carry out data analysis and scientific research with the VERITAS gamma-ray observatory under the supervision of Prof. Mukherjee. Tasks will include learning the basic analysis software, running VERITAS software on data sets and developing analysis code as needed. The research assistant will participate in summarizing the research in articles and presentations.

Job Description: Primary duties and responsibilities include: Learn the VERITAS data analysis software

Learn gamma-ray analysis software as advised by the PI

Analyse data from VERITAS Observatory

Assist in the dissemination of scientific results

Ability to work independently

No remote work. Coming to campus will be required

Perform additional duties as needed

Pay: $30/hr maximum 27 hours per week Skills, Qualifications & Requirements: Minimum degree required: Undergraduate Bachelor’s degree in Physics or Astronomy or Astrophysics. Prior research experience is desired but not required. Proficiency with working with scientific analysis tools is required. Barnard College is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
