Emergency Medicine physician job in Alabama : Work alongside a leader who is invested in your growth as a clinician! The John D. Moorehouse Emergency Medicine Fellowship Program offers an outstanding opportunity for family physicians seeking advanced training in emergency medicine (EM). Located in Montgomery, Alabama, our program is dedicated to equipping physicians with the skills and experience needed to provide high-quality, comprehensive emergency care.

This one-year, full-time intensive fellowship is currently working toward accreditation by the American Academy of Emergency Physicians (AAEP) under the American Association of Physician Specialists (AAPS). Upon completion, fellows will be eligible to pursue board certification in emergency medicine through the American Board of Physician Specialties (ABPS).

Program Highlights

Fellowship start date: summer 2026
Alabama medical license support provided
W2-based annual salary
Full benefits package, including health and liability insurance
Potential to transition into a permanent role within Baptist Health, a three-hospital system with the largest market share in Central Alabama
Practice opportunities at our Level II trauma center and community hospitals
Board certification eligibility in emergency medicine through ABPS upon fellowship completion (accreditation in progress)

Eligibility Requirements

Completion of an ACGME or AOA-accredited family medicine residency program
Letter of recommendation from residency program director confirming training
Board certification or eligibility through the American Board of Family Practice (ABFP)
Eligible for an Alabama medical license

This fellowship is designed specifically to support family medicine-trained physicians who are passionate about emergency care and are seeking a pathway to broaden their clinical expertise in a high-acuity environment.
