Position Type: Athletics/Activities/Coaching Date Posted: 8/21/2026 Location: Richland Junior High School Closing Date: Until Filled Job Summary: Organizes, coordinates, and promotes a comprehensive athletic program in the assigned sport that is designed to meet the needs and interests of the school community. Provides leadership that fosters a safe, positive, and inclusive environment while emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, personal responsibility, and the importance of academic achievement. Serves as a positive role model while supporting the District's educational mission through the development of student-athletes both on and off the field. 1 position available: 7th & 8th Grade Girls' Team Salary: $1,200.00/Season (Per Team) Minimum Qualifications & Abilities: Possess one of the following: A valid California Teaching Credential; or A valid California Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate and one of the following: At least 48 Semester Units (or equivalent quarter units) from an accredited college or university; or A Paraprofessional certificate (CODESP exam) CPR/First Aid/AED Certification required. Knowledge of student behavior management strategies and techniques. Knowledge of the assigned sport. Previous coaching experience in the assigned sport preferred. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with teachers, students, parents, and administrators. Essential Functions: Teaches sport techniques, playing rules, strategies, and playing tactics. Maintains a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all participants. Communicates effectively with students, parents/guardians, and District staff regarding program expectations and activities. Conditions athletes appropriately for activities requiring endurance, strength, and agility. Supervises and conducts practices and contests safely; supervises locker rooms and buses. Promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, cooperation, responsibility, and a strong work ethic among student-athletes. Encourages and supports student-athletes in maintaining satisfactory attendance, academic progress, and appropriate conduct. Responds to player injuries with appropriate first-aid techniques. Manages uniforms, equipment, and District facilities in a safe and responsible manner. Follows all District policies and procedures related to student supervision, safety, and mandatory reporting.
