Mechanical Field (Gas/Steam Turbine) Engineer (Staff, Senior or Principal)

Position Summary Under general direction, demonstrates complete understanding & wide application of engineering technical principle, theories, & concepts in the field. Independently determines & develops approaches to solutions. Receives technical guidance on complex problems; completed work reviewed for adequacy in meeting objectives. May lead small-medium non‑critical projects or critical projects under direction of higher level engineer/supervisor. May provide work direction to other professionals & or staff. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects. Frequent inter‑organizational & outside customer contact. Responsibilities Uses & applies technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, & techniques to perform activities with complex features. Supports development of technical documentation, including designs, testing, calculations, reports, and standards. Assists with development of procedures requiring broad specialty knowledge. Provides ongoing technical support for project activities within Operations, Maintenance, testing/diagnostics & Regulatory. May provide field engineering oversight & direction for commissioning, testing, inspections. May lead small‑medium non‑critical projects and coordinate critical projects or portions thereof. Supports bid/evaluation processes: prepares bids, evaluates proposals, and recommends selections. Partners & communicates with Supply Chain & Legal, and oversees intern or craft personnel work. Mentors less experienced engineers and continually develops technical skills. Performs budgeting, estimating, forecasting, accounting, and work order management for engineering projects. Qualifications Staff Engineer Level (Salary Range: $79,800-$103,666) Bachelor’s degree in engineering (ABET accredited), mechanical engineering preferred. Minimum 2+ years relevant engineering experience. Demonstrated broad knowledge & proficiency in specialty area. Strong EIT/FE preferred. Senior Engineer Level (Salary Range: $94,600-$126,134) Bachelor’s degree in engineering (ABET accredited), mechanical engineering preferred. 5+ years relevant engineering experience with EIT/FE required; or 7+ years without EIT/FE. Demonstrated unique technical skills and core competencies for the level. Preferred PE registration may be required. Principal Engineer (Salary Range: $109,300-$152,766) Bachelor’s degree in engineering (ABET accredited), mechanical engineering preferred. 9+ years relevant engineering experience with PE registration; 15+ years without PE. Demonstrated unique technical skills and core competencies for the level. Preferred Technical Requirements Technical Field Advisor experience on steam or gas turbines. Experience with steam turbines, combustion turbines, pumps, motors. Prior power plant operations, maintenance, or engineering roles. Proficiency in vibration analysis and equipment balancing. Experience with Siemens, GE, or OEM equipment. Benefits & Compensation Estimated starting base pay ranges from $81,000 to $156,600 per year.
