Cardiac Technician

Job Title: Cardiac Technician Location: Jersey City Medical Center Department Name: Non-Invasive Cardiac Lab Req #: 0000244487 Status: Hourly Shift: Day Pay Range: $28.92 - $28.92 per hour Pay Transparency: The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Overview: Conducts cardiac testing on patients. 2D Echocardiogram, M-Mode color Doppler. Stress tests include: nuclear stress, stress ehocardiograms and cardiopulmonary stress tests. Assist with transesophageal echocardiograms. Holter monitor hookup. Participates in unit quality improvement projects. Individual departmental-specific duties as assigned. Qualifications: Required: HighSchooldiplomaorequivalent Successful completion of ultrasound or cardiovascular technology program with emphasis on echocardiography Successful completion of all required orientation programs is required Preferred: Previous experience to perform all modalities of cardiac non-invasive testing is preferred Certifications and Licenses Required: Basic Life Support /CPR certification required through American Heart Association. Scheduling Requirements: Flex Schedule Coverage for day, evening and weekend shifts Essential Functions: Applies, removes, and completes log book accurately for holter monitors as per departmental policy. Demonstrates strong organizational skills, communicates effectively. Organizes daily schedule and demonatrates time management. Ensures RDCS/RCS Certification is current. Maintains that the department remains organized, including restocking supplies to avoid unnecessary patient delays. Informs department manager when supplies are to be ordered so that inventory is maintained on the floor. Maintains ultrasound equipment (including carts and probes) in operable condition. Disinfects and appropriately stores TEE and echo probes as per protocol on daily basis. Manages time and procedural performance of technical staff (including him/herself) to meet the needs of the Lab. Possesses good working knowledge of scheduling and procedure prioritization to minimize delays and ensure completion of daily work schedule. Performs complete echocardiograms (all modalities) inclusive of obtaining images and providing preliminary interpretation. Performs stress testing. Connects and removes Holter monitors. Assists physicians in TEE procedures. Provide preliminary reports for echocardiograms and review with physicians as required. Records appropriate documentation in patient medical records. Accurately completes daily log sheets with all procedures performed. Seeks guidance and direction, as appropriate, for quality completion of testing procedures. Thoroughly explains procedures to patients prior to testing. Provides appropriate patient teaching as necessary. Choosing RWJBarnabas Health!
