Description: Department requires a respiratory therapist with a preference for RRT. Daily treatments can range from 50 to 75 or more depending on census. Day shifts will have a team of 2 therapists for inpatient care and 1 for outpatient care. Night shifts will typically have 1 therapist for inpatient care, or possibly less if census is low. The position involves managing a diverse patient population, primarily adults, with some pediatric and neonatal cases in the emergency department and labor and delivery. Work areas include inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care. Future plans may include cross-training for sleep lab and pulmonary/cardiac rehab. Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in respiratory therapy and should be comfortable with first-time traveler assignments. Ventilator management, arterial blood gas draws, CPAP/BiPAP setup, high flow nasal cannula, nebulizer treatments, and medication inhalations are core responsibilities. Setting up nocturnal pulse oximetry and performing blood gas analyses in outpatient settings are also required. Currently, therapists assist with intubation rather than performing it independently. There is no designated supervisor or lead therapist on site, but a manager is available 24/7 for on-call support during weekends and overnight shifts. Scheduling involves 12-hour shifts, with a typical shift from 5:45 AM to 6:15 PM. Weekend work is required every other weekend, and there may be holiday requirements as needed. Staff collaborate effectively, and one team member may be assigned to the emergency room, resulting in a lighter patient load for that day. No specific scrub color is required for attire. Equipment includes a variety of ventilators and monitoring devices. A hospitalist or intensivist is on site during the day and available on call at night. Department-specific orientation is provided for new team members. Cancellation policy allows for 2 shifts per 13-week contract. Charting is conducted using a specified electronic health record system.
