Job Title

Registered Nurse – Emergency Room

Location

Merced, CA | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Expected 36 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 33-bed Emergency Department, including 25 cardiac-monitored rooms and a staffed triage area with 2 triage bays
• Maintain a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio in a high-volume department averaging approximately 210 patients
• Manage ER holds and board patients as needed in accordance with EMTALA requirements, ensuring stabilization and treatment regardless of insurance or ability to pay
• Perform thorough, accurate clinical documentation using Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including physicians, midlevels, ER Techs, RT, and pharmacy staff available 24/7
• Fulfill weekend and holiday commitments: 2 weekends per 4-week period and 2 out of every 3 holidays

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in California
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Cerner EMR experience is required — please indicate on resume the facility where Cerner was used
• Strong, thorough clinical documentation skills

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Recent Cerner EMR experience (candidates with recent experience may be eligible to test out of Cerner training)
• Prior experience in a high-volume emergency department setting
• Familiarity with stroke-certified facility protocols and EMTALA compliance
• Experience working as a base hospital ER nurse or in an EMS-affiliated facility
