Job Title: Line Cook Location: The Tavern on the Square Type: Full-time/Part-Time
Job Summary: The Line Cook position at The Tavern offers the opportunity to cook and plate dishes from our lunch, dinner, and brunch menus. The Tavern is an upscale farm-to-table full service restaurant offering seasonal ingredients that are locally sourced from our beautiful Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio farmland. Our menu changes regularly and we run special feature dishes often. This job provides a unique opportunity to be a part of an exciting culinary environment with a mission to prepare exceptional food and delivery great service. The food is prepared in a brand new state of the art kitchen and served in a beautifully restored 170 year old building. Responsibilities:
Cooking and Plating: Prepare station for efficient cooking and plating of menu items.
Flavor Mastery: Develop a deep understanding of flavor profiles, ingredient pairings and combinations to create unique and appealing offerings.
Quality Control: Maintain consistent quality in terms of taste, texture, and presentation of dishes. Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure the safety of guests.
Menu Innovation: Collaborate with the culinary team to suggest improvements to existing menu offerings and contribute to the development of new creations.
Team Coordination: Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and service of dishes during busy service periods. Communicate effectively with servers and colleagues to accommodate special requests and dietary needs.
Organization and Efficiency: Manage menu ingredient inventory and ensure all necessary items are well-stocked. Maintain a clean and organized station, following proper sanitation practices.
Time Management: Efficiently manage cooking times to ensure dishes are served promptly and consistently.
Training and Mentorship: Assist in training new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and restaurant procedures.
Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Line Cook or in a similar role within a restaurant setting is preferred.
• Proficiency in working with standard kitchen equipment: fryers, griddles, ranges, ovens.
• Ability to learn working with wood fired pizza oven and wood fired grill.
• Strong understanding of flavors, ingredient combinations, and culinary techniques.
• Thorough familiarity with food safety and sanitation protocols.
• Ability to thrive in a high-paced kitchen environment.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude within a team.
• Creativity in enhancing existing menu offerings and contributing to menu development.
• Flexibility in working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
