The Director of Resident Well-Being leads Scion's resident well-being, mental health awareness, student success, and community resilience efforts across the national portfolio. This role develops scalable programs, training, partnerships, resource maps, and response frameworks that equip community teams to recognize concerns, follow established protocols, and connect residents with appropriate university, healthcare, emergency, and community resources.

Beyond resident-facing strategy, this role is also a trusted resource for our General Managers, security personnel, and field teams - providing guidance, training, and real-time support when they're navigating resident well-being concerns on the ground. By building strong university and community partnerships and equipping teams with clear protocols, this role helps ensure every resident has a path to the right support, and every team member feels confident responding when it matters most.

This role does not provide counseling, diagnosis, treatment, medical advice, crisis counseling, or other clinical services, and does not replace licensed professionals, university support services, healthcare providers, or emergency responders.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a portfolio-wide resident wellness and student success strategy aligned with Scion's mission, values, business objectives, and resident experience priorities.
• Establish goals, metrics, and accountability measures for resident wellbeing, engagement, belonging, retention, and community success, and advise leadership on emerging trends, risks, and resource gaps.
• Build and maintain partnerships with university counseling centers, Student Affairs, Dean of Students offices, Behavioral Intervention Teams, campus police, disability services, healthcare providers, crisis-response agencies, and community organizations.
• Establish trusted university relationships and community-specific resource maps, referral pathways, and escalation protocols that improve access to appropriate support.
• Support appropriate parent and family engagement while maintaining resident privacy, autonomy, legal compliance, and clear boundaries regarding Scion's role.
• Design and oversee a resident wellness curriculum aligned with the student lifecycle and academic calendar, including transition to college, belonging, resilience, academic pressure, financial wellbeing, roommate relationships, substance misuse awareness, mental health literacy, crisis-resource awareness, and life skills.
• Partner with Marketing and Operations to develop resident-facing communications and drive participation in wellness education, engagement, and resource-awareness initiatives.
• Develop scalable peer-connection strategies, including resident ambassadors, peer mentors, and wellness champions, while ensuring peer leaders are not positioned as counselors, clinicians, advisors, or crisis responders.
• Evaluate and pilot technology-enabled and community-based tools that strengthen belonging, engagement, resource awareness, and access to appropriate support services.
• Create a portfolio-wide wellness training strategy with role-specific pathways, competencies, and standards for General Managers, regional leaders, security personnel, and community support teams.
• Partner with Learning & Development to incorporate wellness awareness, documentation, resource connection, professional boundaries, and response protocols into onboarding and ongoing education.
• Partner with Security, Legal & Risk Management, and Operations to establish compliant standards for resident concerns, wellness checks, self-harm or suicidal ideation reports, behavioral escalations, parent or roommate concerns, and after-hours coordination.
• Provide strategic guidance during significant wellness-related incidents, coordinate with appropriate university, emergency, healthcare, law-enforcement, or licensed professional resources, and lead post-incident reviews.
• Develop metrics, dashboards, and reporting to evaluate engagement, incident trends, training adoption, partnership effectiveness, resource gaps, and community readiness while protecting resident privacy and avoiding clinical, diagnostic, or treatment records.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and collaborate with Operations, Security, Legal & Risk Management, Human Resources, Marketing, Learning & Development, university partners, and community teams to integrate wellness considerations into resident experience strategies, policies, communications, and operating practices.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in student affairs, student success, wellness, behavioral health administration, public health, higher education, organizational development, or a related field.
• Bachelor's degree in Organizational Psychology, Psychology, Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Public Health, Social Work, Organizational Development, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
• Demonstrated success building university, healthcare, community, and internal partnerships and developing enterprise-wide programs, training, and scalable operating frameworks.
• Strong understanding of college-age populations, student development, resident engagement, privacy, confidentiality, crisis escalation, and appropriate professional boundaries.
• Experience in student housing, residential life, higher education, public health, counseling-services administration, or student success environments strongly preferred.
• Licensed clinical credentials may be helpful but are not required; this position is not a clinical care, counseling, diagnosis, treatment, or medical advisory role.

The base salary range for this full-time position is base + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
