Appointment Clerk

Health Services Coordinator Responsible for registering patients for clinic appointments. Assists patients with intake forms and initial development of their medical records. Provide clerical and administrative support for the coordinator and the department staff. Essential functions include updating each patient's information in the computer for all appointments, directing patients to the appropriate department, sending appropriate patients to our Benefits Specialist, answering a multi-line telephone system, scheduling new patients, maintaining and tracking of the providers' schedule changes in reference to patient appointments, making appointments for the clinic and checking all patients in and out timely, printing the patient wellness handouts for each patient, and current medication lists, making reminder calls to patients day before scheduled appointment, and reviewing all follow up appointments to insure that patients completed their labs or other procedures prior to the appointment time. Additional duties include performing other duties and projects as required by management. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include the ability to communicate well with patients, providers, and other staff, the ability to maintain computer data, self-motivation, the ability to handle multi-tasks, good organization and analytical skills, and good judgment. Minimum qualifications for consideration include a high school diploma or equivalent, clerical experience, experience in a medical office preferred, and medical terminology preferred. Physical requirements include the ability to be seated or standing for prolonged periods of time, repetitive work at a computer, some lifting, bending, stretching, and kneeling may be required, the ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment, and compliance with all immunization requirements to work in a healthcare setting. Environmental conditions include a health facility office environment.
