Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with pediatric cardiac care experience to join our team in the Critical Care Unit. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing chest tubes, pacing wires, ventilators, and vasoactive infusions in a pediatric cardiac setting. This role requires the ability to practice independently, provide complex patient care, and effectively delegate tasks to other care providers. The nurse will assess patient needs, administer medications, monitor treatments, document care, and educate patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate leadership through the applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provide nursing care based on the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Address the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medication administration, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.

Job Requirements

• Education/Skills: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Experience: At least 1 year of nursing experience in a related specialty preferred; new graduates considered.
• Licenses, Certifications: Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA only). Valid RN license in Texas or a compact state.

• Work Type: Full Time
• Note: Temp to perm possibility.

Additional Requirements

• All experienced RN hires must attend New Nurses Orientation within 30 days of hire.
• Completion of departmental and organizational competency validations.
• All annual competency requirements must be met.
