PRN Staff Nurse - Medical Surgical Cardiology Intermediate Care Unit (4RC) Medical Surgical Cardiology Unit (4 RCP) - Gold Beacon Unit. 4RCP is a 47-bed unit providing care for adult medical cardiology, cardiac and thoracic surgery patients requiring telemetry monitoring, temporary cardiac pacing, vasoactive and anticoagulant medication infusions. The unit provides care to postoperative patients including esophagectomies, Nissen fundoplications, thoracotomies, heart transplantation, coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve replacements and transcatheter aortic valve replacements (TAVR). 4RCP also provides care to patients with cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension, chest pain, post percutaneous coronary interventions and arrhythmia management. The unit is certified to care for left ventricular-assist-device (LVAD) patients and was awarded a Gold Beacon Award by the American Association of Critical‑Care Nurses – the only Gold Beacon Award in Iowa. Certifications Joint Commission Advanced Disease Specific Certification for Ventricular Assist Device Joint Commission Certification for Ventricular Assist Device Destination Therapy Joint Commission Certification for Cardiac Valve Repair and Replacement Joint Commission Disease Specific Certification for Aortic Aneurysm Joint Commission Disease Specific Certification for Valve Repair and Replacement Responsibilities Apply nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness. Assess patient health care preferences and expectations. Collaboratively coordinate the continuum of care across settings. Develop patient care plans based on patient condition, age, and psychosocial factors and prescribe interventions to achieve expected outcomes. Implement patient care plans according to patient priorities, documenting interventions and patient/family responses. Collaborate and integrate contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plans. Develop, coordinate and implement transfer/discharge planning throughout the episode of care. Implement nursing interventions in line with department, division and unit policies, procedures and protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff, following universal precautions. Minimum Qualifications Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Master’s of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA). Required Qualifications: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members; general computer skills. License / Certifications: Current license to practice nursing in Iowa required by date of hire. Desired Qualifications: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Master’s Degree in Nursing highly desired; active enrollment in a BSN program desirable if the degree is not yet obtained. Schedule 24 hours in a 4-week schedule, 8 of the 24 hours must be worked during an off-shift time, one summer and one winter holiday required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
