About the Role

Key Management Services is seeking an experienced and dependable Cementing Unit Operator to lead field operations on our cementing unit. Operations are based out of the Tulsa, Oklahoma area, but candidates from any location are welcome to apply.

The Cementing Unit Operator is responsible for running the cementing unit, managing pump operations, overseeing job execution, and serving as the primary point of contact on location. The Operator directs the Cementing Unit Hand and reports to the Cementing Supervisor. This role requires a strong understanding of cementing operations, the ability to make sound decisions under pressure, and the leadership to run a safe and efficient operation.

This position requires significant travel, including extended assignments lasting several weeks or more in states across the region. Weekend work is required as dictated by operational needs. Company-provided housing and per diem are furnished during all travel assignments.

Compensation

•       Base Compensation: $35.00/hr

•       Pay Schedule: Semi-monthly on the 1st and 15th

•       Bonus Structure: Eligible for performance-based bonuses tied to company performance and project milestones

Additional Compensation & Support:

•       Per diem for meals on days worked during travel (Monday–Friday)

Responsibilities

Cementing Operations

•       Operate and manage the cementing unit during all phases of cementing jobs

•       Control pump rates, pressures, and volumes to meet job design specifications

•       Monitor downhole conditions and make real-time adjustments as needed

•       Perform pre-job calculations including slurry volumes, displacement, and pump schedules

•       Ensure proper cement mixing and quality control throughout operations

Equipment Management

•       Perform pre-job and post-job inspections on the cementing unit and support equipment

•       Oversee rig-up and rig-down of all cementing equipment on location

•       Maintain the cementing unit in field-ready condition, including routine maintenance and troubleshooting

•       Identify and resolve mechanical issues to minimize downtime

Crew Leadership & Coordination

•       Direct and supervise the Cementing Unit Hand during all field operations

•       Serve as the primary point of contact on location with the operator’s representative

•       Communicate job progress, challenges, and completion status to the Cementing Supervisor clearly and promptly

•       Conduct pre-job safety briefings and ensure all crew members follow PPE and safety requirements

Safety & Compliance

•       Enforce all safety protocols, SOPs, and regulatory requirements on location

•       Identify and mitigate hazards before, during, and after operations

•       Maintain accurate job records, field tickets, and operational documentation

•       Report incidents, near-misses, and equipment issues immediately

Qualifications

Required

•       Minimum 3–5 years of experience operating cementing units or equivalent pumping equipment in oil & gas

•       Strong understanding of cementing operations, including primary and remedial cementing

•       Ability to perform job calculations (slurry volumes, displacement, pump rates)

•       Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment in the field

•       Strong leadership and communication skills

•       Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including extended out-of-state assignments lasting several weeks or more

•       Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

•       High school diploma or equivalent

•       Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on uneven terrain in varying conditions

•       Current H2S and SafeLand certifications (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred

•       Experience with specialty cementing units

•       Familiarity with mid-continent operations (Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas Panhandle)

•       Experience with squeeze cementing, plug-and-abandon, and remedial cementing operations

•       Well control certification (WellCAP or IADC)

•       CDL (Class A or B)

•       Prior supervisory or crew lead experience

Work Environment

•       Outdoor field work around active oil & gas equipment

•       Exposure to weather, uneven terrain, and physical tasks

•       Extended workdays and weekend work as dictated by operational needs

•       Significant travel required, including extended out-of-state assignments lasting several weeks or more
