Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications utilizing Telon, COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM and other mainframe technologies.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and architects to define requirements and implement solutions tailored to business needs.
- Lead the development and enhancement of Telon-based applications, ensuring system stability, performance, and scalability.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers and conduct code reviews to ensure best practices and standards are followed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to Telon applications and mainframe environments.
- Perform regular maintenance, bug fixes, and optimizations to improve application performance and efficiency.
- Coordinate the testing of Telon applications and work closely with QA teams to ensure high-quality releases.
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system designs, code comments, and user manuals.
- Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and data privacy standards within mainframe applications.
- Participate in the on-call support rotation for production systems, responding to critical incidents and ensuring timely resolutions.
- Knowledge of system development life cycle in both Agile and waterfall models.
- Strong experience with Telon development tools for application generation, design, and maintenance on the mainframe.
- In-depth knowledge of COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM and other key mainframe technologies. Nice to have REXX/EASYTRIEVE experience
- Expertise in mainframe development environments and tools, including job scheduling, debugging, and performance tuning.
- Proven ability to integrate legacy systems with modern platforms and technologies.
- Familiarity with the complete software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and support.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, DB2 databases, and SQL.
- Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. Expertise in Endeavor, IBM Data Studio, and Expeditor Debugging tools
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Agile development practices and project management tools such as JIRA or Confluence .
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in mainframe development, with at least 2+ years of hands-on experience with Telon.
- Strong background in managing and supporting large-scale mainframe applications in a production environment.
