General Engineer

The Technical Director serves as a key technical expert and authority directing federal oversight activities, project goals, and nuclear safety/engineering facilities operations at the Project Management Office. The position is responsible for providing technical leadership, administrative direction, and programmatic oversight for a complex multi-billion-dollar project portfolio supporting NNSA's national nuclear weapons stockpile mission. A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA pay band level or GS grade level in the Federal Service, i.e., EN-04 or GS-15 equivalent. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: experience managing safe, quality project execution on schedule and within budget by providing leadership and direction to the staff on Federal oversight activities, project goals/objectives, and key project milestones. Examples of Specialized Experience: Experience leading effective long-term planning by collaborating with Federal Project Directors and Construction Contracting Officers in the development of annual, multi-year, or similar types of long-range work plans and schedules. Experience determining the best approach or solution for resolving budget shortages; planning for long-range staffing needs; and providing expertise and insights, preparing position papers or legislative proposals, and otherwise supporting development of goals and objectives. Providing expert advice to the managers, and other management officials on broad project and program technical engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) execution.
