About the Position

Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: NY license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS Must-Have: - Float Required to med/surg - Patient Ratio Experience Required: 1:3 - Charting System Experience Required: Epic Description: The ICU Registered Nurse will provide direct patient care in a fast-paced environment. Patient population includes a mixture of young adults to elderly patients. Common patient diagnoses include those requiring ventilator support, titratable drips, and substance abuse withdrawal. The nurse will also manage patients with diseases affecting cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and gastrointestinal systems. Post-operative care is also included. Special procedures in this unit include the management of A-lines, central lines, intubations, chest tubes, and open abdomens. The nurse will be responsible for the administration of emergency medications and will manage ventilated patients. Skills in interpreting dysrhythmias and managing multi-system organ dysfunction/failure are essential. Experience with continuous IV sedation and titrating vasoactive drips is required. The nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Compliance with infection prevention and isolation precautions is mandatory. This position requires a commitment to high-quality patient care and teamwork.
