Dental HygienistLocated in beautiful Northern California, Adventist Health Clear Lake has been a leading healthcare provider in Lake County since 1968. We are comprised of a 25-bed critical access hospital and provide primary and specialty care services at clinics throughout the area to best serve our community. Lake County is home to Clear Lake, California's largest natural freshwater lake, surrounded by charming small towns, beautiful mountains, vineyards and orchards. This area is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, with some of the best bass fishing, rural trails for hiking and biking, all the while being only two hours from the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento Valley or Pacific Coast.Provides oral hygiene and preventive services to dental patients. Evaluates and assesses provision of services. Performs procedures safely in compliance with regulations under the direction of a dentist. Prepares materials and equipment for treatment and has them ready for dentist's use.Education and Work Experience:Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: PreferredBachelor's Degree or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor's): PreferredLicenses/Certifications:Dental Hygienist licensure in the state of practice: RequiredRadiation Safety Certificate: RequiredCardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: RequiredFacility Specific License/Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: RequiredEssential Functions:Conducts patient screening procedures; such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of the health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting and taking blood pressure and pulse.Takes and develop dental radiographs (x-rays). Removes calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth. Applies preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluorides).Teaches patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling). Counsels patients about good nutrition and its impact on oral health.Makes impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth used by dentists to evaluate patient treatment needs).Prepares patients for services, documents procedures and assists with other office management activities, i.e., scheduling patients, as needed.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Organizational Requirements:Adventist Health is committed to the safety and wellbeing of our associates and patients.
