REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Student Achievement and BTU Program Directors

POSITION SUMMARY: The BTU North Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the implementation of BreakthroughU programming for Scholars in Palm Beach and Broward Counties. Working collaboratively with the BreakthroughU team, the Program Coordinator supports students and families throughout the school year and Summer Institute by coordinating academic, leadership, college readiness, and community-building programming. The Program Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for BTU North Scholars and families while ensuring high-quality program delivery, supporting scholar recruitment and retention, and contributing to organization-wide initiatives that strengthen the BreakthroughU experience across both the North and South programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Program Coordination & Delivery

• Coordinate implementation of BreakthroughU programming for BTU North Scholars throughout the academic year and Summer Institute.
• Support planning and execution of Saturday programming, workshops, field trips, service experiences, college readiness activities, and special events.
• Coordinate site logistics including facilities, transportation, materials, calendars, and program communications.
• Ensure BTU North programming is implemented in alignment with Breakthrough Miami standards, curriculum, and student experience expectations.
• Collaborate with the BreakthroughU team to continuously improve programming and scholar outcomes.

Scholar Recommitment & Enrollment

• Lead annual recommitment efforts to successfully transition eligible Breakthrough Miami Middle School Scholars into the BTU North high school program.
• Collaborate closely with the Breakthrough Miami St. Andrew’s team throughout the school year to build strong relationships with Scholars and families, ensuring a seamless transition from middle school to BreakthroughU.
• Maintain a consistent presence at St. Andrew’s Saturday programming, family events, and other key program activities to cultivate relationships, reinforce the value of continued participation, and support scholar retention.
• Deliver engaging presentations to middle school Scholars and families that highlight the benefits, expectations, and opportunities available through the BreakthroughU North program.
• Coordinate individualized outreach and follow-up with Scholars and families throughout the recommitment process, including information sessions, enrollment meetings, and ongoing communications to support informed decision-making.
• Coordinate student enrollment, onboarding, orientation, and family communications for new and returning Scholars for BreakthroughU North.
• Develop and implement outreach and recruitment strategies that increase awareness of BreakthroughU North among middle schools, community organizations, and prospective families throughout Palm Beach and Broward Counties.
• Represent Breakthrough Miami at recruitment events, school visits, family information sessions, and community engagement opportunities.
• Monitor enrollment trends and collaborate with the BreakthroughU team to strengthen scholar recruitment, retention, and long-term engagement.

Scholar & Family Engagement

• Build meaningful relationships with Scholars and families while serving as the primary point of contact for BTU North.
• Monitor student attendance, participation, academic progress, and overall engagement.
• Coordinate interventions and connect Scholars with appropriate academic, college readiness, and resiliency.
• Maintain regular communication with families regarding programming, expectations, student progress, and opportunities.
• Foster a positive, inclusive community that promotes leadership, belonging, and student success.

Operations & Data Management

• Maintain accurate student records and program documentation in Salesforce.
• Track attendance, surveys, report cards, and other program data.
• Assist with program evaluation, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Coordinate volunteer participation and support local program logistics.
• Maintain inventory of program materials and supplies.

ChangeMaker & Internship Coordination

• Coordinate the annual Volunteer “ChangeMaker” application process for BTU North Scholars.
• Manage participant onboarding, communications, compliance requirements, and completion of all required forms and documentation throughout the ChangeMaker program cycle.
• Coordinate administrative processes for summer Internship programs in Broward and Palm Beach, including onboarding, paperwork, compliance, and ongoing communications.
• Collaborate with BTU team members to ensure timely completion of participant records, documentation, and program requirements.

Success Coach Management

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the school year and summer programs for Success Coaches.
• Recruit, interview, hire, and train Success Coaches as part of the annual application process for BTU North.
• Ensure scholar success through the effective management of success coaches as it pertains to the scholars’ academic and personal success, career readiness, and college access.
• Supervise and evaluate success coaches holding them accountable for desired outcomes.

Communications & Marketing

• Coordinate the development and distribution of monthly BTU North newsletter.
• Collect program highlights, student stories, photographs, and updates from BTU programming for inclusion in newsletters.
• Draft newsletter content and coordinate revisions prior to final review and approval by the BreakthroughU team.
• Support family communications and promotional efforts that increase awareness and engagement with BreakthroughU programming.

Partnerships & Team Collaboration

• Serve as the primary liaison with the BTU North host school and local community partners.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with schools, community organizations, and partner agencies that expand opportunities for Scholars.
• Collaborate closely with the BreakthroughU team on cross-site initiatives, Summer Institute planning, and organizational priorities.
• Represent Breakthrough Miami professionally with students, families, educators, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Regular attendance and reliable transportation are required. Evening and weekend work are required to fulfill the expectations of the role, including Saturday programming, family events, recruitment activities, and special events. Ability to travel between Breakthrough Miami sites and community partners throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties is required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum two years of experience in education, youth development, nonprofit programming, or a related field.
• Experience working with adolescents, young adults, and families.
• Experience coordinating programs, events, or community initiatives preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and willingness to learn Salesforce and other organizational systems.
