Yard Supervisor

We're hiring a Yard Supervisor to take ownership of a busy, high-volume operation. This isn't a sit-behind-a-desk supervisor role. You'll be visible in the yard, working alongside your team, solving problems, keeping trailers moving, and making sure the shift runs safely and efficiently. Compensation & Schedule Salary: Approximately $80,000/year Shift: 3:00 PM - 3:00 AM Alternating Schedule: Week 2: Thursday - Saturday Alternates between a 4-day and 3-day workweek Yes, they're 12-hour shifts. But having 3 or 4 days off every week isn't a bad trade... What You'll Own You'll lead Yard Drivers, Leads, and other yard personnel while keeping the operation moving. That includes: Assigning work and coordinating shift coverage Managing trailer movement, spotting, staging, dock flow, and gate activity Coaching employees and holding the team accountable for safety, productivity, and service Conducting yard walks, inspections, and safety observations Troubleshooting issues with Operations, Dispatch, Maintenance, and Safety Monitoring labor, overtime, trailer dwell, turn times, and other operational KPIs Supporting incident and equipment-damage investigations Identifying ways to improve yard flow, reduce delays, and keep the operation running efficiently What We're Looking For You don't need to come from one exact industry. Strong operational leadership translates. Ideally, you bring: 3-5 years of experience in transportation, trucking, yard operations, warehousing, distribution, fleet, or logistics Some experience as a Supervisor, Lead, or frontline leader A working understanding of trailer movement, dock flow, yard equipment, and safety The ability to make decisions quickly when the operation changes A leadership style that's visible, practical, and accountable Strong communication and problem-solving skills Basic comfort with operational systems, Outlook, Excel, and Word A valid driver's license and clean driving record The Environment This is a 100% onsite, hands-on role in an active yard operation. You'll spend plenty of time on your feet and outdoors, and the environment can be noisy, busy, hot, cold, and everything in between. In other words: this is an operations job, not an office job.
