SUPPLY TECHNICIAN

DEPARTMENT: Materials Management

GENERAL:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SUPPLY TECHNICIAN:

1. Maintain supply stock levels in various clinical departments, following assigned stocking schedule.
2. Effectively utilize Materials Management inventory control computer applications to issue supplies to the appropriate departments.
3. Routine receiving and distribution of supplies for all HSH facilities.
4. Electronically receive supplies and equipment utilizing inventory control documentation and computer applications.
5. Timely distribution and processing of internal supply stock orders to requesting departments.
6. Maintain a clean and organized storeroom and ensure proper stock rotation to minimize outdates.
7. Participate in periodic supply inventory physical count.
8. Ship out supplies and equipment via UPS, Fed Ex, freight, etc. utilizing carrier's computer based applications where appropriate.
9. Actively participate in a quality management plan consistent with the HSH plan to improve organization performance (such as but not limited to Value Analysis Committee).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

The Supply Technician shall be:

1. High School Graduate or equivalent.


2. Must possess communication skills to relate to the public in person

3. Previous experience working in a medical or health care facility preferred with knowledge of medical terminology preferred

4. Demonstrate good organizational abilities

5. Seeks proficiencies in computer applications, e.g. word processing, spread sheets, database, presentation, and project publication.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write policies and procedures that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and is knowledgeable in metric

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to modify care based on the developmental / functional age of the patient as well as that of the patient's ethnic background.

Ability to interact with patients, families, visitors and co-workers. Ability to interact assertively and tactfully when dealing with conflict and in group solving activities. Ability to demonstrate a professional, open minded approach in identifying problems and resolving problems/conflicts.

Age Specific:

This position does not require hands-on delivery of care, however, incumbent must demonstrate understanding of how a patient's chronological and developmental age influences his/her need for adaptations related to his/her abilities.

While filling this position, the employee must regularly lift and or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position also requires reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, and hearing, stooping, bending, crouching, and working with equipment.
