Enterprise Architect, Principal – Utility Asset Management for PG&EPosition Overview

PG&E is seeking a Principal Enterprise Architect to support the Utility Asset Management domain within the Enterprise Strategy & Architecture organization. This role will serve as a strategic technology leader, connecting business goals with enterprise architecture, technology roadmaps, and long-term IT investments.

The ideal candidate is a big-picture thinker and master planner with 10+ years of enterprise architecture experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work across business and IT teams. Utility industry experience is highly preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with senior business and IT leaders to develop technology roadmaps for Utility Asset Management , including inspections, risk management, analytics, reporting, and digital twins.
• Develop a strong understanding of business processes, application portfolios, and underlying IT infrastructure.
• Define current-state and future-state architecture for asset and risk management domains.
• Develop business architecture models connecting business goals and outcomes to technology roadmaps.
• Own the architecture strategy for a portfolio of applications.
• Leverage AI/ML/Generative AI to support future business and asset management needs.
• Lead vendor assessments, support RFPs, and drive application rationalization efforts.
• Support IT strategic planning and portfolio modernization initiatives.
• Coordinate enterprise roadmaps and manage conflicts, redundancies, and dependencies.
• Establish reusable architecture patterns, reference architectures, and implementation best practices.
• Provide architecture guidance to project and implementation teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Partner with Enterprise Architects and cross-functional Business and IT teams.
• Stay current on emerging technologies including AI, edge computing, and other technology trends .
• Support solution design and project delivery from an enterprise architecture perspective.
• Coach and mentor implementation teams and contribute to architecture decision-making.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field , or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of enterprise architecture experience.
• Strong experience across diverse technologies and platforms, with deep expertise in multiple areas.
• Strong analytical, project management, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, solve complex problems, and collaborate across business and IT teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Utility industry experience, particularly in Asset Management or Risk Management .
• Experience with inspections, asset risk management, analytics/reporting, or digital twins.
• Experience leveraging AI/ML/Gen AI for asset management or risk management.
• SAP, GIS, enterprise reporting, and analytics architecture experience.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
• Business and data architecture experience.
• Business capability mapping and business process reengineering experience.
• Solution architecture and project implementation experience.
• Experience with diverse application development technologies and platforms.
• TOGAF or other relevant architecture certification.
• Strong communication skills and a high level of ownership.
