Radiologic Technologist

Job Overview Under general supervision, this role performs diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing disease and injuries. Duties include operating computed and digital radiography equipment and advanced imaging software to obtain imaging of designated body areas. The radiologic technologist may perform or assist physicians in more complex examinations and in sterile procedures. Responsibilities Perform specialized and routine diagnostic procedures. Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation. Prepare and position patients, adjust immobilization devices and imaging equipment for optimum views. Determine imaging acquisition factors based on patient characteristics. Operate equipment controls to set optimal factors for image quality. Practice radiation protection, standard precautions, and proper sterilization techniques. Prepare images for interpretation by radiologist or clinician. Acquire and process images and review for identification and quality control. Assist radiologists and clinicians with diagnostic examinations. Complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed. Perform all other duties as assigned, including department‑specific functions and participation in organization projects. Adhere to safety, HIPAA, and compliance policies. Education & Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Completion of a two‑year JRCERT accredited program in Radiography. Experience Requirements Three (3) years of experience or more, with at least one (1) year of certification in a specialty. Experience with Epic, SECTRA PACS, and PACSGear preferred. Skills & Abilities Proficient in reading, writing, and comprehending instructions, correspondence, and memos. Superior patient care and communication skills to present information to individuals and groups. Ability to perform general diagnostic duties on patients of all ages. Organizational and multi‑tasking skills for supervising modalities, staff scheduling, ordering supplies, reviewing and updating workflow. Ability to anticipate and solve problems for smooth interdisciplinary operations. Computer competence for navigating electronic medical records, digital systems, and peripheral equipment. Collaborative, flexible, and cooperative approach to work with others. Licenses & Certifications American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. Physical Demands & Work Conditions Occasional sitting; constant walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling; occasional climbing; frequent passive movements including pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, turning. Frequent hand use, repetitive motion, grasping, fine manipulation. Constant vision required. Varies lifting weights from 0‑10lbs to occasional lifting up to 40lbs. Exposure to biohazards such as blood‑borne pathogens and hazardous drugs. Work performed around equipment and machinery; occasional exposure to noise, temperature extremes, dust, gases, chemicals, and heights. Use of respirator and personal protective equipment may be required.
