Interventional Radiologic Technologist
The Interventional Radiologic Technologist at Appalachian Regional Healthcare Hazard provides advanced imaging support for minimally invasive, image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This position plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care by assisting physicians during interventional procedures while ensuring patient safety, radiation protection, and adherence to ARH policies and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform interventional radiology procedures utilizing fluoroscopy, Computed Tomography, digital subtraction angiography (DSA), and ultrasound guidance
- Assist radiologists and interventional physicians during vascular and non-vascular procedures
- Prepare interventional suites, including equipment setup, sterile trays, contrast media, and supplies
- Maintain strict sterile technique and follow ARH infection prevention policies
- Position patients appropriately and operate imaging equipment to achieve optimal image quality
- Monitor patients throughout procedures, recognizing and reporting changes in patient condition
- Administer contrast agents per ARH protocols and monitor for adverse reactions
- Accurately document procedures, radiation dose metrics, contrast usage, and patient care in the electronic medical record
- Practice radiation safety in accordance with ALARA principles and Kentucky state regulations
- Ensure proper operation and troubleshooting of interventional imaging equipment
- Participate in on-call coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
- Collaborate with nursing, anesthesia, and ancillary staff to ensure coordinated patient care
- Maintain compliance with DNV, ARH policies, and federal/state regulations
Procedures May Include:
- Diagnostic angiography
- Peripheral and visceral vascular interventions
- PICC line, port, and central line placements
- Thrombectomy and thrombolysis
- Biopsies and drain placements
- Embolization procedures
- IVC filter placement and retrieval
- Dialysis access procedures
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or higher in Radiologic Technology
- Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program
Licensure & Certifications:
- ARRT certification in Radiography (R) required
- ARRT Advanced Certification in Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) preferred
- Current Kentucky state radiologic license
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
