MMD Hollywood is looking for a driven and experienced Retail Shift Lead to join our team in Hollywood, CA. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment, has strong cannabis knowledge, and enjoys leading and developing others.

Position Overview

The Retail Shift Lead is responsible for supporting daily store operations, leading the sales floor, coaching team members, and ensuring every customer receives an exceptional experience. This position serves as a key support to store management and helps maintain operational excellence during each shift.

What You'll DoLeadership & Team Development

• Lead by example and help create a positive, productive work environment.
• Support staff development through coaching, training, and real-time feedback.
• Coordinate employee breaks and assist with daily shift execution.
• Help motivate team members to achieve sales, service, and operational goals.
• Communicate employee concerns, operational challenges, and safety issues to management.

Sales & Customer Experience

• Deliver outstanding customer service and ensure every guest feels welcomed.
• Assist customers with product selection based on their needs and preferences.
• Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
• Support team members in providing accurate product information and recommendations.
• Help drive sales while maintaining a customer-first approach.

Operations & Compliance

• Assist with cash handling procedures, including drawer counts and shift accountability.
• Support inventory audits, cycle counts, and product organization as needed.
• Maintain merchandising standards and visual displays according to company guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and California cannabis regulations.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures to protect inventory, cash, employees, and company assets.

Store Standards

• Help maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked retail environment.
• Ensure health, safety, security, and operational standards are consistently met.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and professionalism throughout the store.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of leadership, supervisory, or management experience in a retail environment.
• Strong knowledge of cannabis products and the California cannabis retail industry.
• Proven ability to motivate, coach, and develop team members.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable attendance and professional demeanor.
• Must be at least 21 years old and legally eligible to work in the cannabis industry.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
• Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to bend, reach, stock merchandise, and perform routine retail tasks throughout the shift.
