Job Description
Join Our Dynamic Med/Surg Team as a Night Nurse!

Job Description:


- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Schedule: Weekends as scheduled
- Unit Information:
- Designed for 32 beds, currently accommodating 20 due to staffing needs
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: No more than 5 patients per nurse
- Emphasis on teamwork with both RNs and LPNs


- Essential Qualifications:
- Must have Epic and travel experience
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (AHA)
- NIHSS for all RNs and LPNs
- ACLS and PALS recommended but not required

- Patient Population:
- Common diagnoses include:
- CP (Cerebral Palsy)
- CHF (Congestive Heart Failure)
- Pneumonia
- Abdominal pain
- Pancreatitis
- Orthopedic concerns
- Detox
- Post-operative care (excluding laboring moms)
- Strong Med-Surg background necessary due to diverse patient needs

- Unit Operations:
- No requirement for RNs to titrate drips
- Telemetry monitors are ICU-grade; RNs will document based on faxed readings
- Charge Nurse role: House supervisor manages assignments, no charge nurse

- Staffing & Support:
- Nurse aids available with a 3:1 aid to nurse ratio
- RT (Respiratory Therapy) assistance available for CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow


- Scheduling Flexibility:
- 12-hour shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
- Manager accommodates traveler scheduling preferences
- Every other weekend required, holiday rotation with regular staff
- No call or standby requirements

- Orientation & Training:
- Comprehensive unit-specific orientation
- 3-5 days of training, including departmental introductions and policy discussions
