FOOD SERVICE WORKER/CASHIER (PART TIME)

Job Overview We are hiring immediately for part time FOOD SERVICE WORKER positions. Location: Ames Community SD – 1921 Ames High Drive, Ames, IA 50010. Online applications only. Schedule: Part‑time. Days and hours may vary. More details will be provided during the interview. Requirement: Prior food service or cashier experience is preferred, but not required. Pay Range: $15.00–$16.00 per hour. Internal Employee Referral Bonus Available. Job Summary Performs cashiering duties, including general food service work. Maintains sanitation standards in the preparation, service, and dining room facilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare food by washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables; weigh and measure designated ingredients. Transport pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, stove, and refrigerator according to safety standards; distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment. Store foods in designated areas following wrapping, dating, and food‑safety and rotation procedures. Clean work areas, equipment, and utensils. Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety requirements. Use approved food recipes and production standards to maintain quality, serving temperatures, and portion control. Serve customers efficiently and courteously following outlined service steps. Interact with customers and resolve complaints in a friendly, service‑oriented manner. Relay relevant information to supervisors. Perform sales transactions: enter sales into the cash register to accurately record purchases, make change, accept card and other payments, issue receipts, and follow procedures for cash refunds. Maintain cash drawer compliance with overage/shortage standards. Replenish condiments, beverages, and general supplies while keeping the service area clean. Perform other duties as assigned.
