Patient Access Technician

The Patient Access Technician (PAT) is an intermediate‑level clerical position responsible for ensuring accurate patient admission and registration. FTE: .01, Shift: Day, Schedule: variable. Responsibilities Assure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to organization policy, procedures and regulatory requirements. Obtain inpatient bed assignments and process inpatient admissions, including arm banding, addressograph plate and completion of necessary forms. Pre‑admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory patients to facilitate a smooth and speedy admission/registration process. Obtain direct admit information and enter a reservation in the computer system to notify other areas. Complete comprehensive bedside or telephone interviews with the patient, relative, or their representative to obtain pertinent demographic, insurance and/or third‑party liability information. Perform eligibility verification, resolve discrepancies, determine need for financial assistance recommendation and application, referring to the Financial Counselor where necessary. Requirements Graduate of a health vocational program such as Patient Access, Medical Assistance, Medical Billing & Insurance OR one (1) year of experience performing any combination of admitting, Health Unit Coordinator, patient registration, customer service or billing duties required; healthcare setting preferred. Pay and Benefit Expectations We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including salary ranging from $24.88 to $37.85 USD, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off.
