Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

Shift Details

• Type: 4x12 Days (06:00 - 18:30)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Position Overview

The Medical Surgical Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a dynamic environment. This role requires a minimum of two years of experience in a medical surgical setting, with necessary competencies in various areas of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care, including assessments, interventions, and evaluations.
• Perform cardiac monitoring and respond to emergencies, including utilizing rapid response teams.
• Provide gastrointestinal care, including colostomy and feeding tube management.
• Manage genitourinary and renal care, including pre/post-hemodialysis management.
• Administer IV therapy and phlebotomy, ensuring effective management of ports, central lines, and peripheral lines.
• Accurately administer medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA.
• Utilize knowledge in respiratory care, including CPAP/BiPAP and tracheostomy management.
• Implement isolation precautions and handle wound care, including wound vac management.

Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license or application in process.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical surgical nursing role.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Experience with Cerner charting system is mandatory.
• Ability to float within scope to meet departmental needs.
• Availability to accommodate a schedule with ideally no more than 5 days of requested time off.

Additional Information

The average daily census is 35 patients. The position does not require on-call duties. Local candidates are accepted without a specified radius.

Parking permits are required, but there is no cost for parking.
